Another technological achievement that opens up new perspectives and new capabilities for NLS diagnostics is "three-dimensional images" (3D).


Even a few years ago, 3D was considered a long-standing aestheticism that was difficult for NLS diagnostic professionals to apply. Currently, it is not only an integral part of scientific research, but also an integral part of actual diagnosis. Terms such as "3D NLS visualization-controlled surgery" or "3D virtual NLS angiography" are increasingly used.


The preparation of NLS pictures for visual analysis is carried out by means of the "4D TISSUE" original system developed by the Institute, which not only obtains virtual multidimensional pictures of anatomical and histological structures, but also color-marks interesting biological tissues - " Additional Dimensions" and visualize bone, soft tissue, and blood vessels simultaneously or in any desired order.


The virtual data representation in the "4D TISSUE" system is characterized by the simultaneous visualization of spongy and extramural growth surfaces located outside the study cavity (lymph nodes, blood vessels). The captured pictures form a natural continuum of virtual NLS pictures. At the same time, a special navigation program automatically defines the trajectory of the "virtual scanner" in the center of the cavity under investigation. Trajectories can be defined by other settings declared by the user, allowing visual changes to specify NLS picture details. With the help of the Epi-client program, the NLS picture formation sequence can be easily converted into the standard VHS format and thus can be used with common video systems such as teleradiology.


First, the "4D TISSUE" system aims to reveal the obstruction process of the upper airway, the volume growth of the esophagus, stomach and large intestine, atherosclerotic lesions of the large blood vessels, and diseases of the paranasal sinuses, bladder and spinal canal. Data acquired with "Virtual NLS Imaging" allows for advance selection of the best biopsy location and determination of the extent of surgery. The method can be used independently or as a link between tomography, endoscopy and NLS research.


The bright future of such procedures is unquestionable, as these technical achievements aid the work of the diagnostician and allow for a clear representation of anatomical features and pathological changes when examining living organisms.
