Biophilia Intruder Watches Your Blood Sugar
In many cases, your blood sugar can be affected without your knowledge. What can affect your blood sugar?
caffeine. Blood sugar rises after drinking coffee—even zero-calorie black coffee—thanks to caffeine. Likewise, black tea, green tea, and energy drinks can hinder blood sugar control in people with diabetes. Everyone reacts differently, so it's best to keep track of your reactions to food and activity. Ironically, other compounds in coffee may help prevent type 2 diabetes in healthy people.
Sugar-free food. Many foods labeled "sugar-free" can raise your blood sugar levels. Why? They can still get a lot of carbohydrates from starch. Check the total carbs on the back label before diving in. You should also watch out for sugar alcohols like sorbitol and xylitol. They have fewer added carbohydrates than sugar (sucrose), but may still contain enough carbohydrates to raise blood sugar levels.
serious cold. As your body struggles to fight disease, your blood sugar rises. Drink water and other fluids to stay hydrated. Call your healthcare provider if you have diarrhea or vomiting for more than two hours, or if you are sick for two days and do not get better. Be aware that certain medications, such as antibiotics and decongestants used to clear your sinuses, can affect your blood sugar.
bagel. What is the difference between eating a slice of white bread and a bagel? Bagels are high in carbohydrates and calories. They have more carbs than a slice of bread. If you're craving bagels, go for mini bagels. Certain foods can spike your blood sugar even more than you expect. Talk to your healthcare professional to find healthy alternatives.
Steroids and water pills. A large class of drugs -- corticosteroids, such as prednisone -- can raise blood sugar and may even trigger diabetes in some people. Steroids are given to treat rashes, arthritis, asthma, and other conditions. Diuretics for high blood pressure, called water pills, can also raise blood sugar levels if you have diabetes. Some antidepressants may raise or lower blood sugar.
Blood sugar is always rising inadvertently and we need to be careful. Biophilia Intruder can regularly monitor our blood sugar and protect our health.
